A white glass ball on a chrome arm
The perfectly round opal globe sits on a chrome ring at the end of the angled arm. Below it, the swivel joint and the stepped backplate echo the polished chrome-plated brass of the other Austen lights. The light stays slim: 24 cm high by 13 cm wide, with the globe projecting 16 cm from the wall. When switched off, the white ball remains a clean, clearly defined shape against tiles.
Enveloping light from a 3 W G9 LED
The supplied G9 LED lamp, 3 W for 300 lumens at 3000 K, disappears inside the opal glass, which spreads the light all around and removes direct glare. The wall light can be controlled with a dimmer; when replacing the lamp, stick to a dimmable G9 LED of 3 W maximum. IP44: the wall light withstands splashes from a washbasin but not the jets of a shower. Class I, with earth.
Single or as a pair around the mirror
Its narrow width means it can be placed above a narrow mirror, or as a pair on either side of a wider mirror, with the centre of the backplate at about 1.60 m. It weighs 1.44 kg. In a bathroom tiled in white, the globe blends into the wall by day and becomes a glowing sphere in the evening.
