The Privé bar takes its cue from dressing-room mirrors: six E14 bulbs lined up on a chrome bar, with no diffuser, so the bulbs themselves create the look. At 60.5 cm long, it sits above a standard-width mirror and lights the face from the front, without shadows. Its IP20 rating means it must be kept well away from the shower and bath.

Description

A chrome bar in theatre dressing-room style

The profile is a simple chrome-plated metal strip, 4 cm high, with six lampholders aligned along its front. There is no glass and no lampshade: the bulbs give the whole piece its character. In the photo, white opal globe bulbs form a regular row of glowing balls; with exposed-filament bulbs, the same light takes on a more retro look.

Six E14 caps to choose bulbs for

Each E14 lampholder accepts up to 40 W. If you choose LED, opt for low-power frosted globe bulbs to avoid glare, with a light of 2700 K or 3000 K. The IP20 rating does not protect against splashes: in a bathroom, reserve this bar for the wall by the basin, above the mirror, out of reach of the shower and bath.

60.5 cm for a single mirror

At 60.5 cm long and 8 cm deep, it suits a mirror roughly 60 to 80 cm wide. Fix it flush with the top edge of the mirror, with the bulbs facing downwards, so that the light falls on the face. A longer eight-light version is available for double mirrors.
