The round chrome backplate carries a vertical stem, also chrome, which ends in a white opal glass globe. The glass is frosted throughout: when lit, it glows evenly without revealing the light source. The pull-cord chain hangs below the backplate.

A soft LED to frame a mirror

The 2.5 W LED source is supplied with the wall light and produces 220 lm at 3000 K. That is little for lighting a room, but just right for a pair of wall lights either side of a mirror, where the opal globe softens the features. With its IP44 rating, the wall light withstands humidity and splashes from a basin; keep it out of the shower zone and do not install it above the bath. It is switched on by the pull cord, independently of the room switch.

21 cm high, fitted at eye level

21 cm high and projecting 13 cm, it is fixed by its round backplate, with the globe facing upwards as in the photo. Place the centre of the globe at roughly face height, on each side of the mirror, at an equal distance from the edge.
