A lantern head on a square base

The lantern, with its clear glass panes, echoes the design of the Grampian wall light: four-sided roof, hooks at the corners, ornate finial. It is supported by curved stems resting on a short foot and a square base. Cast aluminium and steel, black finish, 3-year anti-corrosion warranty according to the manufacturer.

Bulb and IP44 rating

E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W, not included, and dimmable with a dimmer if the bulb is dimmable. In terms of protection, IP44 covers showers and splashes but not the jet of a garden hose: avoid placing it within range of an automatic sprinkler. A clear 2700 K LED, visible through the panes, keeps the character of a gas lamp. Class I: the power cable must include an earth.

Installation on a pillar or low wall

At 29 cm wide and weighing 6.26 kg, it needs a flat, stable support: a pillar cap, low wall or concrete slab. Plan for the buried cable to arrive in a duct before fixing it, and centre it on the pillar for a neat finish.
