About this light

This black outdoor pillar lantern sits on a gate post, a low wall or a porch step. The square head with a pointed roof rests on a short stem and a hexagonal base, all in black polymer with clear polycarbonate panes. It stands 44 cm tall: enough to mark a property entrance without overwhelming the pillar.

Description

Lantern head on a six-sided base

The design is that of a miniature English street lamp: a finial on the roof, four clear slightly sloping panes, then a turned neck leading down to a hexagonal base. Polymer and polycarbonate are chosen to resist corrosion and knocks, even in sea spray. The manufacturer states a 20-year anti-corrosion guarantee.

Entrance lighting

An E27 bulb of up to 60 W, which you will need to supply, fits inside the head. The bollard light can be used with a dimmer; in that case choose a dimmable bulb. With its IP44 protection, the bollard light can stay outside all year round, in the rain. On two gate pillars, a pair of identical lanterns frames the entrance.

Fixing and dimensions

The base is screwed onto a flat, hard surface: pillar cap, paving slab or low wall. The lantern is 20.5 cm wide and weighs 2.43 kg. It is Class II, so no earth wire is needed. Check that the pillar cap is wide enough to take the base.
