316 stainless steel in a compact format
The little Sandbanks keeps the design language of the larger model: satin stainless steel tube, wide round base, a head ringed with louvres that protect an opal globe, and a slightly rounded cap. 316 stainless steel is the so-called marine grade, used in shipbuilding. It still needs a regular wipe with a cloth to prevent the brownish marks that appear on stainless steel left uncared for.
Light at ground level among the plants
The E27 cap takes up to 40 W, bulb not supplied, and is compatible with a dimmer. With the head so close to the ground, the light falls mainly on the path and the base of the plants, which is enough to follow a walkway at night without being dazzled. The IP44 rating protects it from rain and splashes from watering.
Positioning along a border
At 10.2 cm wide, it slips in between two plantings or at the edge of a terrace slab. Fix the base onto a concrete block or masonry surface so that it stays upright. Several mini bollard lights placed close together, about every two metres, draw a line of light along a curved path. Earthed connection required, as the light is Class I.
