About this light

A pillar lantern shaped like a black cube, the Lofoten sits on top of a low wall, a gatepost or an entrance pillar. Four clear glass panes surround an exposed lampholder, held by a black frame with fine edges. Measuring 23 cm wide and 27 cm high, it suits the scale of a standard brick or stone pillar.

Description

A glass cube on a base

The black powder-coated, electro-galvanised steel profiles follow the edges of the cube and frame four panels of clear safety glass. The lampholder, at the centre of the base, remains visible: a filament bulb, tube or pear-shaped, becomes the decorative feature. A discreet base, set back beneath the cube, connects it to the support.

E27 light, IP44 protection

The E27 bulb, 60 W maximum, is not supplied; with a dimmable model, the lantern works with a dimmer. A warm-toned LED, 2700 K, makes the lantern visible from a distance without harsh glare. With its IP44 rating, the lantern withstands rain and splashes, which is enough on top of a pillar. Class II.

Fitting on a pillar or low wall

Check that the pillar cap offers a flat surface at least 23 cm wide. The lantern weighs 3 kg; run the cable through the centre of the pillar so that it stays out of sight. A pair of lanterns on the two pillars of a gate marks the entrance to the property.
