A farmhouse lantern on a grand scale
The large size accentuates what gives the Hodges its character: the overhang of the curved roof, wider than the body, and the round ring above it. The clear bubbled glass covers the front and sides; you can make out a bulb hanging from an exposed lampholder. The ash black shade, with its grey patina, pairs well with stone, brick or a light render.
Material, protection and wiring
Backed by a 5-year guarantee for the collection, the composite structure is designed to last outdoors in all weathers. Its IP44 rating allows it to be used on a rain-lashed wall as well as under a porch. It is Class I and is connected with an earth conductor. The 60 W E27 bulb is not included. When connected to a dimmer, it lowers in intensity if the bulb is dimmable.
Weight and proportions of the large model
41.3 cm high, 27.2 cm wide, 19.4 cm projection: the lantern weighs 3.51 kg and must be fixed to a solid support. On a standard front door, a lantern of this size is best placed on one side only, or as a pair if the façade is wide.
