Chelsea copper lantern head for pole or post, 75 cm

The lantern only, without pole

Netlighting presents it as a large lantern head: the copper is hand-formed and develops a patina over the years, the support arms are in black powder-coated aluminium and the glazed sides are in clear polycarbonate. The sloping roof carries finials at the corners, a dome and a turned finial. The pole is not included.

An E27 lampholder, IP44 outdoors

The lantern takes an E27 bulb of up to 60 W, not supplied. It accepts a dimmer, with an LED designed for it. Tip: a warm white LED, around 2700 K, recaptures the golden tone of an old street lamp. With an IP44 rating, it withstands rain on top of an isolated post in the garden. Class II: no earth wire to connect.

Post mounting

The head weighs 5.97 kg. Before buying, check that the top of your pole can accept the fitting of the scroll-arm basket and carry this weight. On a garden pole, the head adds 75 cm to the overall height: bear this in mind near trees or under eaves. The power cable runs up inside the pole to the lampholder.
