Medstead outdoor wall light with motion sensor, black, 49.5 cm

Hexagonal half-lantern with built-in sensor

The same design as the classic Medstead, but with a detection housing beneath the lantern, which brings the height to 49.5 cm. The black cast aluminium body holds three clear glass panes, a finial at the top and a cut-out frieze beneath the roof. The sensor lens, facing forward, is part of the base.

PIR detection and E27 bulb

The passive infrared (PIR) sensor switches the light on when a person passes. The E27 lampholder takes up to 60 W, bulb not included: choose an LED, which copes better with frequent switching on than a traditional bulb. With its IP44 rating, the lantern withstands rain and water splashes: it can be fitted on an unsheltered façade.

Mounting height and detection range

Allow for 26 cm wide, 14 cm projection and 2.25 kg. The sensor needs to see the path: mount the wall light at about 1.80 to 2 m above the ground, facing the approach path, and avoid pointing it towards a busy road, which would make it switch on constantly.
