Old Bailey half-lantern in patinated metal and clear glass

The case forms a half-lantern: the flat back is fixed against the wall, while the front and the two sides are enclosed by clear glass panes held in slim frames. The domed roof with cornice, topped with a square cap, protects the top. According to the British supplier, the lantern is hand-made in solid brass; the burnished antique brass finish keeps golden highlights.

An E27 bulb behind three panes of glass

The clear glass lets light through at the front and sides, lighting the doorstep and the surrounding wall. The wall light accepts an E27 bulb of up to 60 W, sold separately; choose a dimmable one and use a dimmer. A 2700 K LED filament bulb keeps the look of an old lantern. IP44 rating: whether fitted on an exposed façade or under a porch, it keeps the rain out.

Fitting beside a door

At 21 cm wide and projecting 11 cm, it stays discreet on a door jamb or a narrow wall. It weighs 2.16 kg: fix it to a solid surface. Position it at about 1.80 m above the ground, on either side of the entrance if you fit two.
