St James outdoor lantern wall light, aged brass and clear glass

A half-lantern with a rounded roof in aged brass

The domed roof, topped with a small chimney, covers a body that widens towards the bottom. Three clear glass panes show off the bulb: an exposed-filament model makes perfect sense here. The body is made of solid brass, handmade according to the British retailer Netlighting, then aged to an antique brass finish.

Lighting an entrance exposed to rain

Rated IP44, the wall light withstands rain and water splashes: it can be fitted on a facade, under a porch or against a boundary wall. It takes an E27 cap bulb of up to 100 W, to be purchased separately. Choose a 2700 K filament LED to keep a light close to that of an incandescent lamp. The supplier states that it is compatible with a dimmer: in that case, choose a dimmable bulb.

Dimensions and wall fixing

Allow for 20 cm in width and 1.85 kg on the wall. The fitting is Class I: the connection must include the earth wire. Plan to install it at around 1.80 m above the ground, on either side of the door if you are fitting two.
