A grey aluminium quayside storm lamp
Netlighting describes a hand-made construction in aluminium painted storm grey, inspired by the working lanterns of harbours in the 1940s and 1950s. The cylinder is ringed with bands, topped with a round cap and hung by a ring from a swan-neck arm. The mouth-blown glass is flecked with tiny bubbles that bring the light around the bulb to life.
An E27 bulb behind bubbled glass
The E27 lampholder accepts up to 60 W; the bulb must be bought separately. Choose a 2700 K filament LED: its filaments stay visible through the bubbles in the glass. With a dimmable bulb, the brightness can be adjusted from a wall dimmer. With its IP44 rating, the wall light withstands rain on an exposed façade as well as beneath a canopy. It is Class I: the earth wire must be connected.
Dimensions and mounting height
Allow 12 cm in width and a projection of 17.9 cm from the wall, for a weight of 0.95 kg. On either side of a door, place the top of the lantern roughly level with the top of the door frame, often between 1.80 m and 2 m from the ground.
