Hereford outdoor ceiling light, black grid lantern, 23.5 cm

Glazed lantern under a round backplate

A circular backplate, a short stem, then a conical hat with a wide brim: the lantern sits close to the ceiling. The clear glass is framed by uprights and a crossbar in black cast aluminium. It is the same design as the Hereford wall lights with glazing bars, so you can match porch and façade.

E27 light source, IP43 rating

The E27 lampholder takes a bulb of up to 60 W, not supplied, which you can control with a dimmer if it is dimmable. Choose a warm white LED to recapture the tone of incandescent lanterns. IP43 means protection against objects larger than 1 mm and against rain up to 60° from the vertical, which suits a porch or covered gallery ceiling. Earth connection required (Class I).

Compact size

15 cm in diameter, 23.5 cm high and 1.21 kg: it can be fixed just as well under a wooden canopy as under a concrete slab. In front of a door, centre it on the axis of the opening, slightly forward, to light visitors' faces rather than the tops of their heads.
