New England onion lantern
The Cape Cod takes its inspiration from the "onion" lantern of the harbours of the American East Coast: a clear glass globe dotted with tiny bubbles, protected by two rings and metal arches. The ribbed conical neck and the cylindrical base are tinted sienna bronze, a reddish brown reminiscent of aged copper. The bulb remains visible through the glass, so a decorative bulb is recommended.
Mounted flush under an awning or gallery
This ceiling light fixes directly to the ceiling by a round backplate, with no rod or chain. At 22.9 cm high and 17.8 cm wide, it suits low porches, balcony undersides and covered walkways where a pendant light would be in the way. The IP23 rating protects it from light rain blown by the wind, but it must stay under a roof, sheltered from direct downpours. It weighs 2 kg and must be screwed into a solid support.
A bulb to be purchased separately
A single E27 lampholder, 60 W maximum, with no bulb in the box; dimming is not possible. A filament LED in 2200 or 2700 K keeps the look of an old-fashioned flame. Class I luminaire, earthed.
