A quayside lantern hung from its chain

The silhouette is that of mid-20th-century harbour work lamps: a cylindrical body with a collar, a round cap and a hanging ring linked to a black chain. According to Netlighting, the aluminium is hand-shaped then painted storm grey, and the mouth-blown glass keeps its tiny bubbles. The lantern body is 52 cm high.

For use under cover

The IP23 rating protects against rain falling at an angle, not against splashes or wind-driven downpours. Reserve this pendant light for a covered spot: a deep porch, a covered yard, a pergola closed on top, an open entrance hall. The E27 lampholder takes 60 W maximum, bulb not included; a dimmer can vary the brightness if the bulb is dimmable.

Chain height and connection

Adjust the chain to keep a comfortable clearance: in a walkway, leave about 2 m between the floor and the bottom of the lantern. The pendant light weighs only 1.69 kg, but the ceiling hook must be anchored in a solid support. Class I luminaire, to be earthed.
