Haematite grey bands and engraved glass
The haematite finish is a dark metallic grey, close to weathered iron. The rings and the round cap are made of cast aluminium; they frame a glass capsule whose inner face is engraved, so the light comes out diffused and the bulb is not directly visible. A round ceiling rose in the same shade conceals the connection to the ceiling.
Chain height and fixing
The body of the lantern is 32 cm high and 14 cm in diameter, and the total height is adjustable from 40.5 to 193 cm depending on the length of chain kept. The weight remains modest at 2.25 kg, but the ceiling rose must be screwed into solid backing and not simply into panelling. Under a porch, keep the bottom of the lantern above walking clearance height, at around 2.10 m.
Bulb and IP23 rating
A single E27 lampholder, up to 60 W, bulb to be bought separately; with a dimmable bulb, the pendant light can be controlled from a dimmer. Rated IP23, the Reef withstands drips and slanting rain, but not water jets: it belongs under a porch, a covered pergola or beneath a balcony. Class I: connection with earth wire.
