Hand-crafted copper that develops a patina
According to the manufacturer, this lantern is hand-made from copper, a metal that develops a patina over time. Bright and rosy at first, it gradually darkens on contact with the air. The body tapers towards the bottom beneath a four-sided roof set off by corner spikes; a bulb-shaped finial links it to the chain. The four clear polycarbonate panels let the bulb show through.
An E27 bulb on a façade or under a porch
The E27 lampholder accepts up to 60 W; the bulb must be purchased separately. A clear globe-shaped filament bulb follows the line of the lantern well; if dimmable, it can be controlled by a dimmer. Rated IP44, the Chelsea withstands rain and splashes, whether against a façade or under a canopy. Its Class II rating means no earth wire needs to be connected.
Weight and ceiling height
At 3.73 kg and with a 65 cm lantern, it needs a solid ceiling and plenty of space: a high porch, a property entrance or a covered passageway. Including the chain, it measures from 75.5 to 175.5 cm. Allow at least 2.10 m of clearance below its base so you can walk underneath without bumping into it.
