About this light

A large white glass globe lamp, the Mapa Bianco measures 40 cm in diameter and sits on a low piece of furniture or directly on the floor, in a corner of the living room or beside a sofa. The opal globe, resting on a metal ring, becomes a glowing sphere as soon as it is switched on and lights the walls around it.

Description

A large-diameter globe

The spherical diffuser is blown from white glass, then acid-etched to give a matt, smooth surface. It rests on a round metal base in a matt nickel finish, low enough that only the ball draws the eye. At this diameter, the lamp becomes a decorative volume in its own right.

An accent lamp for the floor or furniture

The retailer presents it as a table lamp that can also be used on the floor. It takes an E27 bulb of up to 42 W, to be purchased separately: a globe-shaped LED in 2700 K gives a soft, even glow. IP20: for indoor use only, in a dry room.

Weight and placement

At 42 cm high and 40 cm in diameter, it forms an almost perfect ball. At 3.52 kg of glass and metal, it stays firmly in place, but the globe remains fragile: avoid narrow passages where it could be knocked. On the floor, place it against a light-coloured wall to make the most of the reflected light.
