Mercury glass, rope and a little stool

The jar-shaped base is made of mercury glass: a glass with silvery, mottled reflections, like an old mirror. A rope coiled in tight spirals dresses the middle of it. The whole sits on a small bronze-coloured stand with legs, which brings to mind a stool. A square finial tops the rectangular shade with cut corners, made of soft sand-coloured linen.

An E27 light source under a linen shade

The E27 lampholder accepts a bulb of up to 100 W. The linen lets a diffused light through into the room and sends most of the light upwards and downwards. The intensity is fixed. With an IP20 rating, the lamp is for dry rooms only. Choose a warm white E27 LED to preserve the sand tone of the shade.

A large 7.8 kg lamp

At 82.6 cm high, 43.2 cm wide and 36 cm deep, the Rigging needs a piece of furniture to match: a hallway console, a dining room sideboard or a large sofa side table. Its weight makes it stable; move it by holding the base rather than the shade.
