The chandelier is the statement light par excellence: several arms or crystal drops give generous, sparkling light. In the living room, lighting should switch easily from bright light for guests to a softer mood.

Size and ceiling height

Make sure the ceiling is high enough: a chandelier should leave at least 2.10 m of clearance, or hang above a table. To estimate the diameter, add the room’s length and width in metres and read the result in centimetres.

Create several moods

Pair ceiling light with lower sources and choose warm white (2,700 to 3,000 K) with a dimmer to adjust the atmosphere.
