Choosing a pendant light for the hallway and entrance

A pendant light provides both practical light and real decorative presence: it is often the centrepiece of a lighting scheme. In a hallway or entrance, light should guide the way without glare, using low-profile fittings.

Height and diameter

Above a table, allow 75 to 85 cm between the bottom of the pendant and the tabletop; where people walk underneath, keep at least 2.10 m of clearance. Choose a diameter of roughly half the table width.

Avoid dark spots

Spread several light points along the length and make sure there is enough light near the mirror and the front door.
