A harbour lantern in weathered zinc

The aluminium body has a weathered zinc finish, a dark grey with uneven highlights. The bubbled glass, clear and dotted with tiny air inclusions, shows the bulb while softening glare. Above it, a wide flat shade directs the light down towards the ground; a ring tops the lantern. The fluted stem rests on a square base.

An E27 bulb under glass, protected from the rain

The lantern accepts an E27 bulb of up to 60 W, not included. A clear LED filament bulb shows off the bubbled glass; choose a 2700 K colour temperature for soft pathway lighting. Rated IP44, it withstands rain and splashes, so it can stay uncovered on top of a pillar. Like any Class I appliance, it must be connected to an earthed circuit.

Allow for a diameter of 20.3 cm and a height of 44 cm: choose a pillar slightly wider than the base so that it does not overhang. Weighing 3.33 kg, it is screwed onto a masonry support, at the entrance to a house or on either side of a gate.
