Navy blue and brass

The midnight blue velvet drum hides a golden interior that echoes the brass of the foot. The clear base, like a glass test tube standing upside down, reveals the metal stem at its centre.

Light and wiring

One 60 W E27 bulb fits in the lampholder; it must be purchased separately. A warm white LED, around 2700 K, preserves the golden glow of the lining. The lamp is rated IP20, for dry indoor use, and Class II, with no earth wire. A switch on the cable turns it on and off.

Placing it on furniture

The lampshade is 40 cm wide and the lamp weighs 3.5 kg: a medium-sized bedside table will not always be big enough, and a chest of drawers or a desk is a better fit. By the bed, keep the drum slightly back from the headboard so you are not dazzled when sitting up.
