Nettle floor lamp in gold leaf, striped cylinder lampshade, 195.9 cm

Gold leaf and a cobblestone-style star

The star-shaped base, with its jagged arms, is engraved to evoke cobbled streets. The tubular steel stem rises in a single line to a small ball bristling with spikes, a nod to the nettle that gives the model its name, and then up to the lampshade. This tall, narrow cylinder alternates gold leaf bands with taupe bands, and ends in a chiselled finial.

Light and connection

One E27 lampholder, up to 100 W, bulb to be purchased separately. The light escapes through the top and bottom openings of the cylinder. Fixed intensity. IP20 rating: for indoor use in a dry room. Class I, so an earthed plug is required.

Height and stability

At 195.9 cm, the top of the lampshade sits above an adult's head: it therefore lights the room rather than a book. The overall diameter is 46.4 cm and the 11 kg weight keeps the stem perfectly upright. Leave about twenty centimetres between the lampshade and the ceiling if the ceiling is low.
