Under cover (canopy, porch), an IP44 light is sufficient. If it is exposed to rain and bad weather, choose IP65. For ground-mounted or recessed lights, opt for IP67, or even IP68 if they may be submerged.
The cable must be suitable for outdoor use (e.g. type U-1000 R2V), run through a red protective duct buried at least 50 cm deep (85 cm under a driveway), and protected by a 30 mA RCD. Have this connection carried out by an electrician.
